1rst Day
Rome, Pompeii, Naples:
Leave Rome for Naples. Brief panoramic tour of the historic city
centre with its New Castle, San Carlo Theatre, Royal Palace and
Umberto I Gallery. Continue on to Pompeii for included lunch, after
which there will be an approx. two hour tour on foot of the ruined
city, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Return to a Naples
hotel for dinner and overnight.
2nd Day
Naples, San Giovanni Rotondo, Alberobello
After breakfast in hotel, drive from Naples to San Giovanni Rotondo.
On arrival, free time in which to explore the town of Padre Pio who
has recently been made a saint. After lunch (not incLuded) continue to
the hotel in Alberobello for dinner and overnight.
3rd Day
Alberobello, Matera, Alberobello
Breakfast in hotel. Guided tour of the little town of Alberobello,
famaus far its 1,070 “trulli”, typical white conical buildings of
this area, and the reason the town has been declared a world heritage
site by UNESCO. After Lunch, (not included) departure by bus to Matera
far guided taur. This is the most important example of a Traglodyte
settlement in the Mediterranean, perfectly adapted to the land and its
eco-system. The “Sassi”, alleys, caves and churches create a
very particular atmosphere of years gone by that will leave you
speechless. UNESCO recognised the “Sassi” as a world heritage site in
1993. Return ta Alberobello for dinner in hotel and overnight.
4th Day
Alberobello, Castel del Monte, Naples, Rome
Departure after breakfast in hotel far Castel del Monte, the famous,
somewhat enigmatic construction built by the Swabian Emperor, Federico
II, between 1240 and 1246, that stands out because of its unusual octagonal shape. It can be see on
all 1 Euro cent coins minted in
Italy. Visit the castle (also a UNESCO heritage site) and after
included lunch, return by bus, via Naples to Rome where you will be left in
the vicinity of your hotel.

Capri (as per tour 14) before rejoining the tour as described. Supplement per person:

Capri Extension
On day 4, instead of return to Rome, remain in Naples for dinner and
overnight.
5th Day:Naples, Capri, Rome
After breakfast in hotel, depart for the Isle of Capri, and visit of
the famous Blue Grotto, (sea and weather conditions permitting). Lunch
on the island. Free time in the afternoon before returning to Naples,
and continuing on by bus ta Rome where you will be left in the
vicinity of your hoteL. |
