EXCURSION TO MEDICI VILLAS

	Built at the end of the 15th century by the architect Giuliano da San Gallo according to precise suggestions by Lorenzo dei Medici, the Villa of Poggio a Caiano is the most beautiful, the most famous and the best preserved of all the villas owned by the greatest family of the Renaissance. Inside there are beautiful original frescoes by Pontorno, A. del Sarto and other celebrated artists.
The Villa of Artiminio (external visit) was built almost a century later, and is also known as the Ferdinanda due to its being commissioned by the Grand Duke Ferdinando I to his famous architect Bernardo Buontalenti in 1594. The excursion ends with a visit to the little village of Artimino, which is almost completely intact from the great Medici period, and a wonderful Romanesque church.
