Piazza Navona the
"living room" of Baroque Rome, court of the
Pamphilj family and setting for the artistic wonders of two
great protagonists of the 17th century: Bernini and
Borromini. Recent restorations have opened up interesting
critical perspectives on the appearance of Rome in the 17th
and 18th centuries, now lost to us but perhaps partly
rediscovered in the unusual colors of some city buildings
Caravaggio probably the most
well-known works by this painter are conserved in the church
of San Luigi dei Francesi. To approach the works of
Caravaggio is to come into contact with a unique and
unrepeatable artistic vision full of emotion
Pantheon a perfect round temple and
model for generations of architects from ancient times until
modern. The Pantheon amazes visitors due to the perfection
of its forms and the dimensions of its vast internal spaces

Church of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola the
second Jesuit church in Rome conserves a frescoed vault of
exceptional beauty. A masterpiece of Baroque decoration, the
vault was painted by the mathematician Father Andrea Pozzo
at the end of the 17th century, following a rare and perfect
plan of perspective which gives the visitor the impression
of an optical illusion
Piazza Colonna in this
square we find the column of Marcus Aurelius which some
Romans call it Antonine. It is entirely decorated in relief
and it seems as if a ribbon wraps round it from top to
bottom, following the exemple of Trajan's Column near the
Imperial Forum. The facade that encloses the square to the
north is the Chigi Palace, headquarters of the President's
Council of Ministers and located next to the italian
Parliament

Trevi Fountain the most famous Roman
fountain still astonishes the visitor with the scenographic
impact it has on those who arrive in the square from the
many streets which converge there
Quirinal Hill on this hill and square
there was the summer residence for the popes, which is today
the residence of the President of the Republic. Opposite the
ancient papal stables there is the Rospigliosi Pallavicini
villa and next to the villa there is the Palace of Consulta.
In the centre of the square there is the imposing obelisk
that stands between the two statues of the Dioscuri
