During the tour of Florence tour visit the
Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio and admire the
beautiful view from Piazzale Michelangelo. This tour begins with
a panoramic view of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo and
proceeds to the oldest bridge over the Arno River, the Ponte
Vecchio that was built in 1345. Here a significant array of
Florentine jewelers display their splendid products for sale.
The next stop is Piazza del Duomo and a visit to the Cathedral
of Florence and the Baptistery, two of the most important
architectural monuments of the Italian Renaissance. Lunch (at
own expense) will be served in a family restaurant that
specializes in Florentine cuisine. In the afternoon walk along
the Via dei Calzaiuoli, one of the principle shopping streets in
Florence, to Piazza della Signoria, the center of political
activity in this city since the 14th century. Tickets to visit
the Uffizi Galleries can be arranged for members of the group
who are interested in this extraordinary museum. Likewise,
members of the group who wish to do additional shopping will be
accompanied to the Via dei Tornabuoni where the finest fashion
shops in Florence can be found.
